What we develop
XMC (Switched Mezzanine Card, VITA 42/61) is an open standard for rugged mezzanine modules that mount onto a carrier board — such as a VPX, VME, or CompactPCI host — to add capability without redesigning the whole system. Dectonics develops and integrates XMC modules for aviation and marine platforms, adding I/O, FPGA, graphics, storage, or communications through a standard mezzanine site.

Built for harsh environments
Mezzanine modules let a rugged system be tailored to a mission without a full board redesign — but they still have to survive the same vibration, temperature, and service life as the platform. We approach XMC development with ruggedisation and thermal behaviour in mind from the start.

What is the difference between XMC and PMC?
XMC builds on the earlier PMC (PCI Mezzanine Card) form factor, adding a high-speed serial connector such as PCI Express for much greater bandwidth while keeping a similar mechanical footprint.
How does XMC relate to VPX?
XMC modules commonly mount on VPX carrier cards, so a rugged VPX system can be tailored with specific I/O or processing through a standard mezzanine site.
